This resource features 12 carefully selected picture books, largely created by Indigenous authors and illustrators, that immerse learners in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and learning. Each book includes hands-on activity extensions rooted in eco-justice teaching, emphasizing land-based, outdoor, and experiential learning. Activities are designed to be tactile and engaging while honouring Indigenous voices and perspectives. Additionally, these learning experiences are thoughtfully connected to the Circle of Courage framework, supporting learners’ growth in belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity.
